The Best Way to Experience Everything at Hollywood Studios in One Day

If you’re planning a day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, having a strategy is the difference between spending your day enjoying attractions and spending it waiting in long lines. With some planning, you can experience nearly every major ride, show, and themed land in a single day while still having time to enjoy the atmosphere, food, and entertainment.
The key to success is arriving before the park officially opens. Guests who are at the entrance 30 to 45 minutes before opening have a significant advantage. Once the gates open, head directly to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance first. This attraction consistently has one of the longest wait times in the park, so experiencing it early can save well over an hour later in the day.

After Rise of the Resistance, continue through Galaxy’s Edge to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Since you’re already in the area, it makes sense to complete both major Star Wars attractions before crowds build. From there, head toward Toy Story Land to ride Slinky Dog Dash. This family coaster is another attraction where wait times climb quickly throughout the morning. While you’re in Toy Story Land, enjoy Toy Story Mania! and Alien Swirling Saucers.
By late morning, make your way to Sunset Boulevard. Ride The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror followed by Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. These thrilling attractions are close together, making it easy to experience both without unnecessary walking. If you need a break, grab lunch nearby before continuing your adventure.
The afternoon is the perfect time to enjoy indoor attractions and live entertainment. Catch For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration for a relaxing break in air conditioning. Follow that with Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, located inside the iconic Chinese Theatre. Depending on wait times, you may also want to visit Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, Muppet*Vision 3D (while available), or Walt Disney Presents.
Don’t overlook the park’s incredible stage shows. Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! and Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage are excellent opportunities to rest while still enjoying classic Hollywood Studios entertainment. Since these shows operate on scheduled performance times, check the daily entertainment schedule and plan accordingly.
As evening approaches, revisit any attractions you may have missed. Wait times often begin to decrease during the last two hours before park closing, especially if many guests have already claimed spots for nighttime entertainment. This is an excellent opportunity to ride Tower of Terror or Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway again with a shorter wait.
For dinner, consider dining in Galaxy’s Edge or along Hollywood Boulevard before finding a viewing location for the nighttime spectacular. Ending your day with the evening show provides a memorable finale to your Hollywood Studios adventure.
A few extra tips can make your day even smoother. Use the official Disney app to monitor wait times throughout the day, take advantage of mobile food ordering to save time, and be flexible if an attraction temporarily closes. If you’re willing to stay until park closing, you’ll often find some of the shortest wait times of the day during the final hour.
Hollywood Studios may be one of Disney’s smaller parks, but it is packed with world-class attractions, immersive lands, and unforgettable entertainment. By arriving early, moving through the park in a logical order, and balancing rides with shows during the busiest parts of the day, you’ll maximize your experience and have an excellent chance of seeing nearly everything in just one unforgettable day.
