There’s something wonderfully relaxing about staying at Disney’s Old Key West Resort. With its laid-back atmosphere, spacious rooms, lush surroundings, and Florida Keys-inspired charm, it feels like a peaceful retreat from the excitement of the theme parks. One of the best parts of staying here is that you can leave the car parked and take advantage of Disney’s complimentary transportation to get around Walt Disney World.

For many guests, the transportation options make a stay at Old Key West surprisingly easy and stress-free.

Getting to the Theme Parks

Disney buses are the main form of transportation from Old Key West to the theme parks. Buses run throughout the day, making it simple to head to Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom without worrying about parking, driving, or navigating unfamiliar roads.

The bus ride also gives you a chance to relax between your resort and the parks. After a long day of walking and enjoying attractions, being able to sit down and let someone else do the driving can be a welcome part of the Disney experience.

One thing to remember is that Old Key West is a fairly large resort, so there are multiple bus stops around the property. This can be convenient because you’re often close to a stop, but it’s worth checking which stop is closest to your accommodation.

Disney Springs Is Especially Convenient

One of the highlights of staying at Old Key West is the easy access to Disney Springs. In addition to bus transportation, Old Key West has a water taxi connection to Disney Springs.

Taking the boat is a lovely alternative to the bus, particularly in the evening. The leisurely ride along the waterways adds a little extra Disney magic to an otherwise ordinary journey. It’s especially enjoyable when you’re heading to Disney Springs for dinner, shopping, or an evening stroll.

Resort Hopping and Transportation

If you enjoy visiting other Disney resorts, transportation can make resort hopping part of the fun. You can use buses, boats, the monorail, or the Skyliner depending on where you’re going.

The key is to remember that Disney transportation isn’t designed for every journey to be direct. You may need to transfer at a theme park or Disney Springs when traveling between resorts. Give yourself plenty of time, particularly if you have a dining reservation.

A Relaxing Way to Experience Disney

One of the biggest advantages of staying at Old Key West is that you don’t necessarily need to drive anywhere during your vacation. Between buses and the boat to Disney Springs, you have plenty of options for getting around Walt Disney World.

The transportation itself can become part of the experience. Rather than worrying about traffic or parking, you can sit back, enjoy the scenery, and let Disney take care of the journey.

If you’re looking for a resort that combines a relaxed atmosphere with convenient access to everything Walt Disney World has to offer, Old Key West is well worth considering. The transportation options make it easy to enjoy the parks and resorts while still returning to a peaceful, Florida Keys-inspired home base at the end of the day.
